The Aberystwyth & Distric Community Land Trust
Like many university towns, Aberystwyth suffers from an acute lack of affordable housing for local people. The Aberystwyth & District Community Land Trust has recently commissioned a housing needs survey that will provide a picture of the nature and extent of that need. Ceredigion County Council is keen to assist in the delivery of more affordable homes and they along with other local landowners have suggested possible sites for one or more affordable housing projects.
A housing need survey, that will help to assess the accommodation needs for key workers in the University tow is to be lunched in June 2008 and completed this autumn. Meanwhile the Aberystwyth CLT steering group is investigating the potential of a couple of promising sites for their first housing project, one within the town and the other close by.
